The football temperature is high in Åland. The IFK Mariehamn mens team play in the highest league in Finland and the best Åland ladies team, Åland United, play in the FM-series.

For visiting teams there are plenty of match playing and training possibilities. In Mariehamn there are five fine grass fields and in the countryside an additional six. The largest indoor arena in Åland; Eckeröhallen contains everything needed for professional football training year round; a full size artificial grass field, six changing rooms, club/tactics room, workout room, massage benches, a café and a laundry room.

The tournaments and cups that MIFK and Finströmskamraterna (IFFK) arrange for junior  teams of different age groups make sure that many Swedish and Finnish clubs meet in Åland.
